Democrats Claim White House Declining Shutdown Talks as Chief Executive Repeats Warning of Job Cuts

A top administration official has indicated that mass terminations of federal staff could begin if the chief executive decides that discussions to end the administration stoppage are "absolutely going nowhere|making no progress|stalled completely}."

Kevin Hassett informed the news network that he still saw a opportunity that Democrats would concede, but added that the president was "gearing up to act|take action|intervene" if needed.

Deadlocked Negotiations

No concrete evidence of talks have emerged between congressional representatives since Trump convened with them last week. The closure started on the first of October, after upper chamber Democrats rejected a temporary funding bill that would keep federal agencies open through to 21 November.

"Democrats have refused to speak with us," Senate Democratic leader the Senate minority leader told the television network, saying the impasse could be solved only by additional negotiations between the president and the principal legislative leaders.

Partisan Claims

The GOP House speaker claimed Democrats of being "lacking seriousness" in talks to resolve the national shutdown, while the Democratic leader faulted Republicans of instigating the closure.
